From what I am told, winter is here. Trust me, this is like no other winter I have ever experienced. I keep waiting for the snow, but unfortunately, there has been none yet. Let’s hope it stays that way. Remember, the course remains open and we would love to see you here for a few rounds of golf during what is historically, a relatively slow period for Green Oaks. The board of Directors met on Monday, November 20, 2006, and as members, it’s important that I keep you aware of those proceedings.
In October the Board of Directors approved a motion to eliminate smoking in the Pro Shop and Dinning Room. We are happy to offer our non-smoking members and their families with an environment that will be conducive to their use of the club and clubhouse. This will also provide a smoke free environment for our Bi-Weekly steak Nights that I encourage all of you to attend. Where else can you go and cook your own Steak or other meat choice and receive a salad, baked potato with all the fixing and have a desert for only $3.00. Come join us on December 7th 2006. Plans are continuing for aesthetic improvements in the Pro shop. Once again, please help insure that our new “No Smoking” policy is followed. As always, smokers are welcome to continue smoking in the bar / lounge. .
We continue to receive compliments on the playing
conditions of the course. I have brought to your attention the significant concerns
regarding club member’s treatment of the course. Wayne continues to tell me that
there are still a number of beer bottle caps on the course. Again, when the mowing
and maintenance equipment hits these items, significant and costly damage is done
to the equipment. We provide litter baskets on every hole for disposal of all trash
and request that you be considerate and use these instead of throwing trash, including
beer caps, on the course.
Please remember, it is club policy that all beverages, including alcoholic beverage
are to be purchased from the Pro shop or the Bar. Bring your own alcoholic beverages
on the course violates Mississippi State liquors laws and could result in the club
losing its liquor license.
